Activol® 1357 is an additive for sulfuric, hydrochloric, nitric and hydrofluoric acid pickling and cleaning solutions and may be used as specialty additive on titanium in nitric acid baths. Activol® 1357 reduces surface tension, accelerates acid action and provides detergency in solution. This product also serves as a mild inhibitor to minimize acidic attack on base metal during scale removal. It promotes complete rinsing and reduces fume formation. Activol® 1590-CP is an additive for hydrochloric acid pickling solutions which imparts both “wetting” and detergency, while inhibiting base metal attack and offering fume control. Particularly useful in low temperature batch or continuous operations, Activol® 1590-CP prevents over-pickling and provides acid savings, reduces metal weight loss, fumes and hydrogen embitterment. This product produces a bright uniform finish, prolongs pickle tank life, increases the speed of the pickling process and makes clear solutions in all acid concentrations which will not break down in acid storage tanks. Activol® 1658 is a wetting and detergency additive for pickling and acid brightening baths. It is extremely stable to both high electrolyte and oxidation and can be used in the nitric and nitric/hydrofluoric acid combinations used for pickling stainless steels, zirconium, titanium, and other highly alloyed or exotic metals. It is classified as a medium “foamer” and will produce a foam blanket to hold down toxic oxide fumes and steam vapor. Activol® 1793-B is a sulfuric acid inhibitor for batch pickling. It is one of our strongest inhibitors, is a good “wetter” and provides a more uniform pickle and a better rinse. Additionally, it eliminates acid fumes and reduces hydrogen embrittlement. Pickle Life 1673-D (acid extender) and Activol® 1793-B can be used in combination to extend the life of the acid bath to iron levels of 7-12%. Activol® 1793-NF is a non-foaming version which can be used in operations utilizing combustion heating. Activol® 1803 is the most efficient member of a line of hydrochloric acid pickling bath additives formulated for continuous hydrochloric picklers, including deep bath conventional and shallow dynamic systems. It provides all the requirements of a good pickling inhibitor including: descaling ability, high % efficiency (protection), excellent rinsability, reduced acid consumption, reduced gage and metal loss, durability, reduced hydrogen embrittlement, fume reduction and results in uniformly bright pickled surfaces. Activol® 1874 is a pickling inhibitor for all sulfuric acid pickling operations. Activol® 1874 contains all the desired properties of a strong acid pickling additive including: high efficiency on carbon steels, good protection to alloys and silicon steels, a foam cover, wetting agents, excellent acid and temperature stability and fume control. Instantly soluble in sulfuric acid baths, it reduces acid drag-out and provides more uniform removal of scale from rod, wire and sheet steel. This product is also available in non-foaming version (Activol® 1874 –NF) for compatibility with sulfuric acid reclamation processes. Atmoscleer® 1785 is a foam blanket and fume suppressant for sulphuric acid pickle baths. Small amounts produce a heavy foam which cuts fumes and saves energy. This product may also be used for phosphoric acid baths. Atmoscleer® 8001 is a foam blanket additive for hydrochloric acid batch pickling baths. It imparts a densely packed, uniform layer of foam on the surface of a steel pickling bath. Some agitation may be required to generate the foam layer when there is not enough pickling action occurring, such as when the bath temperature is very low (below 1000F). It is extremely stable in hydrochloric acid baths containing high amounts of dissolved iron and under high temperature conditions. It cuts down on heat loss and holds corrosive hydrochloric fumes in the bath. It should be used in conjunction with Activol® acid inhibitors for hydrochloric acids, such as Activol® 1803, Activol® 1590-C, Activol® 1590–CP or Activol® 1903 for best results in batch pickling operations. Aquatemp® 8304-WT is a new synthetic chemical mill cleaner/rust preventive combination providing maximum “dry finish” rust protection. It is used where no reduction is required or desired as in “skin passing,” or “wet tempering.” It can be applied in conventional ways via spray headers at the entry side of the mill or with an air wipe on the delivery side. Hamico® 1003 is a light colored, transparent, odorless lubricating oil for machinery and equipment requiring an extremely clean condition with a light oil. It can be used in many applications where light lubrication is needed, e.g., forming, bending, stamping, straightening. It can be used on all metals as received, by pumping, dip, spray or wipe. Steelgard® 8920-K is an indoor rust preventive for steel stored in an acidic atmosphere such as a pickling department. It is designed primarily for protection against hydrochloric (muriatic) acid vapors. It deposits an oily film and is a very low odor product. It protects against staining and contact corrosion in tightly wrapped steel coils. Steelgard® 2005 is a new innovation for use as a temper mill fluid for coated products replacing straight oils, solvents or the practice of dry tempering. In addition to preventing white rust, it produces a better “healed-over” surface, reduces roll pick-up, permits higher mill speed and achieves elongations with lower roll force. Immunol® AC-20 an acid cleaner for use on equipment or floors stained with oxide or rust. It renews the appearance of equipment to a bright, shiny finish and protects against flash rust. Just mix with water, apply, let it perform and rinse off. Activol® 7711-B is a highly efficient hydrochloric acid corrosion inhibitor for use in chemical cleanouts of steam generation equipment such as boilers, pulp digesters, and in secondary oil recovery operations using hydrochloric acid. Actispeed® 450 is a combination acid pickling inhibitor and descaling accelerator for hydrochloric acid pickling systems. This additive inhibits acid attack on base metal and accelerates scale removal from hot-rolled steels by up to 30%. Aquatemp® 1860-LV-2 is a low viscosity temper mill lubricant for application on coated products during tempering or “skin pass” processes. It cleans the mill and strip, reduces roll pickup, permits higher mill speeds than dry tempering operation and provides lubrication to achieve required elongations. It is a solvent based product which evaporates after processing and can be coated with petroleum based coating oils. Hamico® 8906-WT Rinse Aid is a stain preventing additive for rinse systems following hydrochloric or sulfuric acid pickling operations. It is an acidic product possessing corrosion protection and wetting. It is designed to eliminate the brown or reddish stains often experienced on steel exiting a continuous pickler. It eliminates the formation of iron hydroxide slimes which accumulate in rinse tanks as a result of acid bath carryover. Hamico® Neutralizer 809-L is a combination of liquid alkalis and surface-active (wetting) agents designed specifically for neutralizing acidic residues from ferrous metals after pickling operations. Hamicote® EF-317 is an additive for lime or borax solutions to improve cohesive and adhesive properties and to disperse and suspend lime or borax more uniformly throughout the bath and on the rod while retarding rust and minimizing foam.
